1.INPUT: The signal output from an instru- ment (active or passive) or a line level signal may be connected here by means of a shielded instrument cable.

2.-15dB/0dB:This switch, when depressed, attenuates the input signal by 15dB. Attenuation allows the Gain control (#3) to be functional over a larger portion of its range. If the Gain control is near minimum and the Peak LED (#4) is flashing (indicating clipping of the input signal), attenuation is needed.

3.GAIN: This serves as the input signal level control for the amplifier, allowing you to adjust the amplifier for the best signal to noise ratio.

4.PEAK LED: This LED flashes when the signal level into the preamp approaches clip- ping. Adjust the Gain control (#3) until a strong signal from your instrument causes this LED to flicker.

NOTE: If the LED flashes frequently with the gain control at a low setting, use the -15dB pad (#2) to attenuate the input signal, then readjust the gain.

5:CONTOUR SHAPE: This control is only active when the Contour Active switch (#6) is

depressed. The setting of this control shifts the frequency where the contour effect is centered, giving you a wide variety of tonal variations, from a studio “V”-shaped tone to a sound that’s more “live” and up-front.

6:CONTOUR ACTIVE: This switch, when depressed, activates the Contour Shape con- trol (#5).

7.GRAPHIC EQ: Use these sliders to adjust the output signal to best suit your playing style, to match room acoustics, and to get the best overall sound. The sliders control the output of the frequencies indicated below each control. The center position of each control is flat (no boost or cut).

8.MASTER LEVEL: This is the overall out- put level control for the amplifier.

9.LIMIT: The BFX100 uses an internal limit- ing circuit to assist in keeping the power amplifier’s output “clean” at extreme volume levels. (All amplifiers begin to clip their output signals as they approach maximum output levels, resulting in distortion which may dam- age the speaker.) Whenever the amplifier is at full power, this LED will flash. This is an indication that the limiter is keeping peak sig- nals from clipping the output.

BFX100 specifications

The Crate Amplifiers BFX100 is a versatile and powerful combo amplifier designed for musicians seeking high-quality sound and extensive features in a compact format. This amp is known for its ability to deliver a wide range of tones, making it suitable for various musical styles, from blues and rock to jazz and metal.

One of the standout features of the BFX100 is its unique 100-watt output power, which provides ample volume for both rehearsals and live performances. The 12-inch speaker generates rich bass response while ensuring clarity across the frequency spectrum. This combination allows guitarists to hear every note clearly, regardless of their playing style or settings.

The BFX100 is equipped with a two-channel preamp, offering both clean and overdriven tones. The clean channel delivers a pristine sound with plenty of headroom, perfect for those who enjoy a smooth tone. The overdrive channel, on the other hand, offers a variety of distortion levels, catering to players who crave that crunchy sound. Each channel can be adjusted individually, allowing musicians to switch seamlessly between a bright clean sound and a bold, saturated overdrive.

Another notable aspect of the BFX100 is the onboard digital effects processor. It features multiple effects such as reverb, delay, chorus, and flanger, enabling guitarists to add depth and texture to their sound without the need for external pedals. The effects can be mixed and matched, providing unlimited possibilities for sonic exploration.

The built-in equalizer allows players to shape their tone even further. With three-band EQ controls (bass, mid, and treble), users can fine-tune their sound to fit their personal preferences or complement their ensemble. This level of control is vital for achieving the desired tonal characteristics, whether playing in a band or jamming at home.

Portability is another advantage of the BFX100. Despite its robust features, the amplifier remains relatively lightweight and easy to transport, making it an ideal choice for gigging musicians. Additionally, the durable construction ensures reliability during travel and frequent use.

In summary, the Crate Amplifiers BFX100 combines power, versatility, and user-friendly features in a compact package. With its extensive tonal options, built-in effects, and portability, it is an excellent choice for guitarists looking to elevate their sound and performance experience. Whether in the studio or on stage, the BFX100 delivers a satisfying audio experience that caters to the needs of today’s modern musician.
