18.FUSE: This protects the unit from dam- age due to overload conditions or power line surges. If the fuse blows, replace it only with the same size and type.

19.AC LINE CORD: Plug this cord into a properly wired, grounded, 120 volt, 60 cycle outlet. DO NOT attempt to defeat the ground connection of this power cord! If your amplifier was purchased outside of the United States, see the unit’s rear panel label- ing for its power rating, and follow the above guidelines.

20.BALANCED LINE OUT: This XLR-type connector supplies a balanced preamp output signal for connecting to a house mixing board, recording console or external amplifier with balanced inputs. The signal can be set to Pre or Post EQ by the Pre/Post switch (#21). The line out signal level can be controlled by the Balanced Line Out Level control (#22).

21.PRE/POST SWITCH: You can select either Pre or Post EQ for the signal at the Balanced Line Out jack (#20) with this switch. When the switch is depressed, the signal at the jack is pre-EQ—a direct output, not affect- ed by the gain, contour, or graphic EQ. When the switch is in the out position, the signal is

post-EQ—the output signal is affected by the gain, contour and graphic EQ controls.

22.BALANCED LINE OUT LEVEL: Use this control to adjust the output signal at the Balanced Line Out jack (#20). This control works independently from the the front panel Master Level control.

Connecting to the Insert jack:

The Insert jack (#13) lets you patch external effects into the amplifier just prior to its power amp stage. Use Crate’s STP201, STP202 or STP203 stereo-to-mono Y-cord or an adapter such as Crate’s YPP117 and 2 1/4” mono signal cables to connect to the effect as shown below.

BFX100 specifications

The Crate Amplifiers BFX100 is a versatile and powerful combo amplifier designed for musicians seeking high-quality sound and extensive features in a compact format. This amp is known for its ability to deliver a wide range of tones, making it suitable for various musical styles, from blues and rock to jazz and metal.

One of the standout features of the BFX100 is its unique 100-watt output power, which provides ample volume for both rehearsals and live performances. The 12-inch speaker generates rich bass response while ensuring clarity across the frequency spectrum. This combination allows guitarists to hear every note clearly, regardless of their playing style or settings.

The BFX100 is equipped with a two-channel preamp, offering both clean and overdriven tones. The clean channel delivers a pristine sound with plenty of headroom, perfect for those who enjoy a smooth tone. The overdrive channel, on the other hand, offers a variety of distortion levels, catering to players who crave that crunchy sound. Each channel can be adjusted individually, allowing musicians to switch seamlessly between a bright clean sound and a bold, saturated overdrive.

Another notable aspect of the BFX100 is the onboard digital effects processor. It features multiple effects such as reverb, delay, chorus, and flanger, enabling guitarists to add depth and texture to their sound without the need for external pedals. The effects can be mixed and matched, providing unlimited possibilities for sonic exploration.

The built-in equalizer allows players to shape their tone even further. With three-band EQ controls (bass, mid, and treble), users can fine-tune their sound to fit their personal preferences or complement their ensemble. This level of control is vital for achieving the desired tonal characteristics, whether playing in a band or jamming at home.

Portability is another advantage of the BFX100. Despite its robust features, the amplifier remains relatively lightweight and easy to transport, making it an ideal choice for gigging musicians. Additionally, the durable construction ensures reliability during travel and frequent use.

In summary, the Crate Amplifiers BFX100 combines power, versatility, and user-friendly features in a compact package. With its extensive tonal options, built-in effects, and portability, it is an excellent choice for guitarists looking to elevate their sound and performance experience. Whether in the studio or on stage, the BFX100 delivers a satisfying audio experience that caters to the needs of today’s modern musician.
