PREFERENCE 2 can be set as follows:

DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT

To connect the unit‘s digital output to an external amplifier or receiver equipped with a digital input, this item must be set correctly.

PCM ONLY:

When you connect the DIGITAL OUT jack of the unit and the linear PCM digital input of a piece of audio equipment.

¦The unit does not provide the DTS decoding function.

¦When playing back an audio CD with DTS, only use a DTS decoder (or an amplifier with a built-in DTS decoder). Playing back such a disc outputs an incorrect signal from the analog output jacks, which may cause damage of speakers.

If you connect the analog outputs and digital outputs simultaneously, be sure to select the source of the amplifier correctly, or set the level control of the amplifier connected to the analog outputs to minimum.
