Troubleshooting

Buttons don’t work

• If you’re using the remote control, press the DVDTV button first to make sure the remote is in TV mode.

Unplug the TV/DVD for two minutes and then plug it back in. Press the ON/OFF button and try again.

TV turns off while playing

Sleep Timer is set.

Electronic protection circuit may have been activated because of a power surge. Wait 30 seconds and then turn the TV on again. If this happens frequently, the voltage in your house may be abnormally high or low.

Blank screen

Make sure the component connected to the TV/DVD is turned on.

Try another channel.

No sound, picture okay

Maybe sound is muted. Press the volume up button to restore sound.

Station or CATV experiencing problems, turn to another channel.

Can’t select certain channel

Channel may be blocked or not approved in the Parental menu.

If using a VCR, make sure the TV/VCR button on the VCR is in the correct mode (press the TV/VCR button on your VCR).

Noisy stereo reception

The station might be weak. Press the AUDIO button on your remote control to change from stereo to mono.

No picture, no sound but TV is on

The channel might be empty — change channels.

If you’re watching your VCR and it’s connected with coaxial cable to the UHF/VHF jack, tune the TV to channel 3 or 4 (whichever channel is selected on the 3/4 switch on the back of your VCR). Also check to make sure the TV/VCR button on the VCR is in the correct mode (press the TV/VCR button on your VCR).

Sound okay, picture poor

Check antenna connections. Make sure all of the cables are firmly connected to the jacks.

Try adjusting the picture quality. Go to page 28 for more instructions.

No Closed Caption

Try another channel, station may be experiencing problems or closed captioning is not being broadcast by the station.

Check antenna connections. If using an indoor antenna or if TV reception is very poor, Closed Caption may not appear or may appear with strange characters or misspelled words.

Turn on closed captioning by pressing the SUBTITLE button when in the TV mode.

Some cable systems and copy protection systems may interfere with the Closed-Caption signal.

Closed Caption may be lost due to a commercial or break in the signal, but reappears when the signal is received again.

Black box appears on the screen

Closed-captioning turned on. Press the SUBTITLE button to turn it off. Check the Closed-Captioningfeature.

Display not shown in your language

Select the proper language in the Setup menu (hammer and wrench icon)
