Blu-ray, HD DVD, DVD-Audio, Version 1.0 of DVD-RW, DVD-ROM, CD- ROM, CDV, CD-G, SACD, Photo CD, DVD-RAM that cannot be removed from their cartridge, 2.6-GB and 5.2-GB DVD-RAM, PAL discs and “Chaoji VCD” available on the market including CVD, DVCD and SVCD that do not conform to IEC62107.

Playing DVDs and Video CDs

The producer of these discs can control how they are played so you may not always be able to control play as described in these operating instructions (for example if the play time is not displayed or if a Video CD has menus).

Read the disc’s instructions carefully.

Handling precautions

Do not attach labels or stickers to discs (This may cause disc warping, rendering it unusable).

Do not write on the label side with a ball-point pen or other writing instrument.

Do not use record cleaning sprays, benzine, thinner, static electricity prevention liquids or any other solvent.

Do not use scratch-proof protectors or covers.

Do not use the following discs:

Discs with exposed adhesive from removed stickers or labels (rented discs etc.).

Discs that are badly warped or cracked.

Irregularly shaped discs, such as heart shapes.

It may not be possible to play the above discs in all cases due to the type of discs, the condition of the recording, the recording method and how the files were created (page 6, Tips for making data discs).

1 This unit can also play CD-R/RW recorded with CD-DA or Video CD format.

2 Discs recorded on DVD video recorders or DVD video cameras using DVD-Video Format.

3 Recorded using a format different from DVD-Video Format, therefore some functions cannot be used.

4 Discs recorded on DVD video recorders or DVD video cameras, etc. using Version 1.1 of the Video Recording Format (a unified video recording standard).

5 Plays all versions of DivX® video (including DivX®6) with standard playback of DivX® media files. Certified to the DivX Home Theater Profile. GMC (Global Motion Compensation) is not supported.

6 A process that allows play on compatible equipment. To play a disc that is displayed as “Necessary” on this unit, the disc must first be finalized on the device it was recorded on.

7 Closing the session will also work.
