When selecting the AUDIO OUT

Notes:

This unit can output a preferred digital audio signal format or not from the DIGITAL OUTs.

Therefore, you should set the AUDIO OUT to either SPDIF/OFF or corresponding digital out setting (SPDIF/RAW or SPDIF/PCM) according to system connections, etc.

When the DIGITAL OUT of the unit is connected to the DIGITAL IN of an amplifier which does not contain the Dolby Digital or DTS decoder (which processes the bitstream signal), you should set the AUDIO OUT to SPDIF/PCM to convert Dolby Digital or DTS bitstream to linear PCM (2 channel) of 48 kHz/16 bit and to output it.

If the AUDIO OUT is not set correctly, loud noise or no sound may be heard from the speakers, and it may be harmful to your ears and damage the speakers.

• SPDIF / OFF: When outputting no digital audio signal.

SPDIF / RAW: When outputting the digital audio signal as it was recorded.

SPDIF / PCM: When converting DTS or Dolby Digital bitstream to

linear PCM (2 channel) of 48 kHz/16 bit and outputting it.

When selecting the DOWNMIX

Depending on whether the AUDIO OUTs (or the A/V SCART OUTPUT connector) are connected to a stereo amplifier/receiver/TV or an A/V amplifier/receiver with built-in surround decoder, you should set the DOWNMIX correctly.

Note:

The DOWNMIX setting affect only the output signal from the AUDIO OUT jacks (or the A/V SCART OUTPUT connector) when playing back a DVD Video, etc. recorded in multi-channel signal format.

• Lt/ Rt: When enjoying multi-channel surround sound by connecting the unit's AUDIO OUTs to an A/V amplifier/receiver with built-in surround decoder.

• Lo / Ro: When enjoying conventional 2 channel stereo sound by connecting the unit's AUDIO OUTs to a stereo amplifier/ receiver/TV.
