Player via Ethernet

While it is recommended that the Player connect wirelessly to another com- puter to share digital media files, it can also be connected to an existing wired network or computer via Ethernet.

Note: Do not install the wireless PC Card when connecting via Ethernet.

Connecting to a Wired Network

To connect the Player to an existing wired network via Ethernet:

1.Plug a standard, straight-through Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the rear panel of the Player.

2.Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into an open Ethernet port on a router or hub connected to the wired network.

3.Reboot the Player.

4.When the Player has rebooted, all computers on the wired network with a Media Buddy properly intstalled and configured will display on the Login

page.

Connecting to a Single Computer

To connect the Player to a single computer via Ethernet:

1.Plug a crossover Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the rear panel of the Player.

2.Plug the other end of the crossover Ethernet cable into an Ethernet port on the computer with a properly installed and configured Media Buddy.

3.Start up the Player and the computer. After attempting to connect to each other, the process will timeout. At this point, both the Player and computer revert to default connection mode, and locate each other.

4.The computer displays in the Login screen of the Player.
