Playing a Tape

Using the Playback Features

Picture Search

You can search for a specific tape location during playback by fast forwarding or rewinding the tape. Sound is turned off during picture search. Picture search works best for tapes recorded in SP or SLP speed.

Fast Forward Search

1. During playback, press FF on the remote or FWD on the VCR to search forward at a faster-than-normal speed.

SRCH + appears in the display panel.

2. Press the button again or press PLAY to return to playback.

Rewind Search

1. During playback, press REW on the remote or VCR to search in reverse at a faster-than-normal speed.

SRCH – appears in the display panel.

2. Press the button again or press PLAY to return to playback.

Automatic Tracking

The VCR has automatic tracking which adjusts the picture when playing back a tape recorded on another VCR. Automatic tracking is turned on whenever a tape is inserted.

Manual Tracking

Occasionally, you may need to manually adjust tracking on a tape recorded on a different VCR or camcorder. Tracking is used when playing a tape, and it has no effect during recording.

¥When streaks or snow appear in the picture, press TRACKING up or down on the remote or the VCR for the best possible picture.

¥During pause, press TRACKING up or down on the remote to reduce any jittering of the picture.

¥To turn automatic tracking back on, press both TRACKING buttons on the front of the VCR at the same time or eject the tape and re-insert it.
