Using the beat function

With the beat function, you can create a variety of rhythms automatically. This effect can be used with any source, to create original recordings.

ON/OFF SPEED SELECT CONTROL

1 Press BEAT ON/OFF to make sure the indicator is off, then start playing a source.

2 Press BPM CONTROL repeatedly to obtain the beat speed you desire.

Every time you press the button a voice says, “one, two, three, four, one . . .”, the speeds (BPM 70~140) are also displayed. The beat speed is memorized automatically.

3 Press BEAT ON/OFF to start the beat.

Pressing BPM CONTROL lets you synchronize the beat with the source.

To change the speed

Hold down BEAT SPEED and turn the jog dial (or press BEAT SPEED +/– on the remote) to select the speed you desire (BPM 70~140).

To change the beat pattern

You can select from 8 different beat patterns. Hold down BEAT SELECT and turn the jog dial (or press BEAT SELECT +/– on the remote) to select the pattern you desire. The name of the beat pattern appears in the display.

To cancel the beat

Press BEAT ON/OFF. Make sure the indicator is off.

To change the beat volume

Press LEVEL + or –.

Tip

You can use the drum pads and the beat function together.

Note

When the APPLAUSE MIX function is selected, you will not hear the drum beat during the applause.
