64 Black Level, Virtual Surround, Initializing

Black Level

Adjust Black Level to brighten the DVD and Video CD picture during playback.

1 During disc playback, press MODE repeatedly until the Black Level Menu appears in the information bar at the top of the screen.

OFF (BLACK LEVEL)

2 Within 1 minute, press K or L to switch ON or OFF. ON brightens the dark parts of the picture. OFF shows the original picture as recorded.

Virtual Surround

You can enjoy improved stereo sound when you play DVDs, Video CDs, Audio CDs, MP3 or Windows MediaTM Audio files recorded in Dolby Digital or Pulse Code Modulation (PCM). Check the disc case for details on availability.

1 During disc playback, press MODE repeatedly until the Virtual Surround Menu appears in the information bar at the top of the screen.

OFF (V.S.S)

2 While the information bar is on the screen, press K or L to change 1, 2 or OFF. The default setting is OFF. The information bar will disappear after about 1 minute.

Initializing

You can return all the DVD player’s Setup Menu items (except for PARENTAL) to their default settings.

Before you begin, press SELECT to put the TV/VCR/DVD in DVD mode. The green DVD light will appear on the front of the unit.

While playback is stopped, press SET-UP twice.

For Video CDs and Audio CDs, you can adjust Virtual Surround only if you set Stereo Sound to STEREO. Details are on page 61.

The Black Level and Virtual Surround Settings will be saved even if the player is turned off.
