As a class, come up with different words, using each category that they see in the picture.
Parts of Speech Review
A noun is a word used to name a person, place, or thing.
Example: boy, car, bear, school, zoo
A verb is a word that expresses an action.
Example: run, laugh, sing
Adjectives are words that are used to describe a noun or pronoun.
Example: green grass (the adjective “green” describes the noun “grass”)
Other Ways to use the Pocket Chart:
Make your own posters and have students create different parts of speech cards that describe the poster.
Have students make their own posters to test the class on the different parts of speech. Students can also bring in pictures from family events. Enlarge the photos and as a class, determine the different parts of speech that you see.
