Using face detection

Take photos of yourself. The focus distance

 

will be set to close-up and your camera will

 

emit a beep.

Description

If your camera detects closed eyes, it will take three photos in succession.

When 'Picture taken with eyes closed' message appears, take another photo.

When your hear a quick beep, press [Shutter].

To turn the beep on or off, select Self

Portrait in the sound settings. (p. 69)

The camera automatically releases the shutter when it detects a smiling face.

Smile Shot

When your subject smiles broadly, your camera can detect the smile more easily.

The options may differ depending on the shooting mode.

Face detection may not be effective when:

-the subject is far from the camera (The focus frame will appear orange for Smile Shot and Blink Detection)

-it is too bright or too dark

-the subject is not facing the camera

-the subject is wearing sunglasses or a mask

Face detection is not available when using a photo effect or photo style.

When you use the face detection option, the digital zoom will not work.

When Smile Shot or Blink Detection is set, the timer is not available.

When you use the face detection option, the focus area will be set to Center AF.
