High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography captures more scene contrast than a single exposure can handle by taking three consecutive shots very quickly with different exposure values, then combining the best highlight/ shadow detail from them for one incredible shot. Ideal for situations where severe backlighting is present and other high-contrast scenes. (Recommended for still subjects.)

These help you get the shot by optimizing the camera for specific shooting situations. Select from Auto, Daylight, Shade, Cloudy, Incandescent, Fluorescent, Flash, and Custom modes.

AntiMotionBlur(PhotoMode)

Perfect for situations with poor lighting or when using a telephoto lens, Anti Motion Blur mode will take 6 consecutive shots in a split second, taking the best of each individual image, and creating a single image with superb clarity and detail. Ideal for minimizing subject movement in low lighting conditions.

NEX-VG20 specifications

The Sony NEX-VG20 is a versatile digital camcorder that stands out in the realm of consumer video technology. Launched as part of Sony's innovative NEX series, this model is designed to cater to both amateur filmmakers and seasoned videographers.

One of the defining features of the NEX-VG20 is its large APS-C CMOS sensor, which is typically found in high-end DSLR cameras. This sensor offers an impressive 16.1 megapixels, allowing users to capture stunningly sharp and vibrant videos. The larger sensor size enhances low-light performance, significantly reducing noise and improving clarity in dim lighting conditions—an essential attribute for videography.

The camcorder supports full HD 1080p video recording at multiple frame rates, including 24p for a cinematic look, 60p for smooth motion, and 30p for standard broadcast. This flexibility makes it ideal for diverse shooting scenarios, from documentary filmmaking to event videography.

Another significant aspect of the NEX-VG20 is its interchangeable lens system, offering compatibility with a wide range of Sony E-mount lenses. This feature allows users to choose the appropriate lens for their shooting needs, whether they require a wide-angle for landscape shots or a telephoto for close-ups. The included 18-200mm lens is particularly good for general use, covering a broad range of focal lengths.

Ergonomically, the NEX-VG20 is designed for comfortable handling during prolonged use. It features a large grip and intuitive controls, making it easy to navigate settings and adjustments. The camcorder also includes a manual focus ring on the lens, enabling precise control over focus adjustments, a crucial component in professional video production.

For monitoring and composition, the NEX-VG20 features a 3-inch LCD touchscreen that can angle for easy viewing at various perspectives. Additionally, it has a built-in Electronic Viewfinder (EVF), providing a clear view of the frame even in bright conditions.

Audio quality is another strength of the NEX-VG20. It comes equipped with a professional-level microphone input and a headphone jack, allowing users to monitor audio levels in real-time. This is vital for ensuring high-quality sound capture, which is just as important as video in the storytelling process.

In summary, the Sony NEX-VG20 is a robust camcorder that marries advanced imaging technologies with user-friendly features. Its APS-C sensor, interchangeable lens capability, and professional audio options make it a reliable choice for creators looking to produce high-quality video content. Whether for personal projects or professional work, the NEX-VG20 stands out as an excellent tool for filmmakers at any level.
