Menu Screen Available Using The Select Dial

FOCUS

AUTO

Adjusts focus automatically.

 

MANU

Allows you to adjust focus manually (pg. 36, 37).

 

 

 

EXPOSURE

AUTO

Adjusts exposure automatically.

 

MANU

Allows you to adjust exposure manually (pg. 35).

 

 

 

WIDE

OFF

Does not display black bars.

 

ON

Allows you to record black bars at the top and bottom of the screen

 

 

to produce a cinema-like “wide-screen” effect.

 

 

If a snapshot (pg. 18, 22) is taken while the camcorder is in

 

 

the WIDE mode, the snapshot image is recorded without the

 

 

black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.

MAX

To record a subject in a darkly lit environment, it is more

 

 

convenient to shoot the subject with a brighter image even if the

 

 

picture becomes slightly coarse.

 

NORMAL

To record a subject in a dimly lit environment, it is more

 

 

convenient to shoot with a less coarse picture although the

 

 

subject becomes slightly dark.

 

 

 

 

OFF

Allows you to shoot dark scenes with no picture brightness

 

 

adjustment.

 

 

 

TITLE*

Allows you to superimpose one of eight preset titles (pg. 31).

 

 

 

DATE/TIME

Makes the date/time settings appear in the camcorder or on a connected monitor

DISP.*

(pg. 30).

 

 

 

 

Menu Screen Available Using The MENU Button

This Menu Screen cannot be accessed while recording.

AUTO

This camcorder’s Automatic Colour Temperature system senses

 

 

the colour temperature of the ambient lighting for automatic

 

: FINE

 

white balance adjustment. However, precise colour adjustment

 

 

 

: CLOUD

is not possible under the following conditions:

 

 

•When an object is in various shades of the same colour.

 

: HALOGEN

 

•When a predominantly red or brown object is being shot outdoors.

 

 

 

MWB

In these cases, use the camcorder’s built-in preset filters for

 

 

white balance adjustment (pg. 38, 39).

D. ZOOM

ON

Allows you to use the Digital Zoom. By digitally processing and

 

 

magnifying images, zooming is possible from 16 times (the optical

 

 

zoom limit), to a maximum of 320 times digital magnification.

 

OFF

Digital Zoom is not available. Only optical zoom (maximum

 

 

16x magnification) can function. When set to “OFF” during

 

 

Digital Zoom, zoom magnification changes to 16x.

 

 

 

*Activated only with the System Select Switch set to “VIDEO”. If the System Select Switch is set to “D.S.C.”, this function will not be activated although the highlight bar will move on the Menu Screen like the setting

procedure.

Functions listed without an asterisk are available with the System Select Switch set to either “D.S.C.” or “VIDEO”.
