Spot Exposure Control

Selection of a spot metering area enables more precise exposure compensation. You can select one of the three metering areas.

1 Set the power switch to .

3 Press ( ) twice so that the indicator appears.

The spot metering area frame appears at the centre.

4 Press / to select the desired spot metering area frame.

5 Press 49. The setting is completed.

To lock the exposure

After step 4, press and hold 49 for over 2 seconds. The indicator appears.

To cancel spot exposure control

Press ( ) once so that the indicator disappears.

NOTES:

Spot exposure control may not be possible when some other functions are activated.

Depending on the shooting location and condition, optimum result may not be attained.

FLASH

1 Set the power switch to .

2 Set the MODE switch to .

3 Press FLASH repeatedly to select the desired flash mode.

The selected mode indicator will be displayed on the screen.

[AUTO]: The flash fires automatically when the surroundings are dark.

AUTO RED-EYE: The flash fires automatically but reduces the red-eye phenomenon of the subject's eyes.

ON: The flash fires regardless of the shooting condition.

SLOW SYNCHRO: The flash fires regardless of the shooting condition. The shutter speed becomes slower in this mode, so the background can also be brightened.

When not using the flash

Press FLASH repeatedly until no flash mode indicator is displayed on the screen.

NOTES:

The flash and the continuous shooting cannot be used at the same time. The unusable mode indicator blinks or goes out.

The flash mode indicator also blinks while charging the flash.

If the flash mode is selected before turning the LCD monitor, you can continue to use the flash after the LCD monitor is turned 180°, even though the flash mode indicator will disappear. The flash mode cannot be selected after the LCD monitor is turned 180°. ( pg. 9)

If the flash is not bright enough, set [GAIN] to [AUTO] or [160]. ( pg. 51) Alternatively, set [S.SP] to [NIGHTSCOPE] in the MSET menu. ( pg. 35)
