Usage cautions and notes

Rechargeable Ni-MH batteries

●●You can use Ni-MH batteries after charging them with a dedicated battery charger. However, improper handling of the batteries may cause leakage, heat generation, fire or an explosion. Observe the following.

••If there is dirt on the battery poles, you may not be able to charge the batteries normally. Carefully clean the battery poles and battery charger terminals with a soft dry cloth.

••Do not peel off or scratch the covering on Ni-MH batteries.

••When the batteries are used for the first time, or after having not been used for a long period of time, they may not fully charge. This is a characteristic of Ni-MH batteries and is not a malfunction. Battery performance will return to normal after a few charges and discharges.

••We recommend charging the batteries after they are fully discharged. If you repeat charging before they are fully discharged, battery performance may be reduced. (This is called “memory effect”.)

If a “memory effect” occurs, continue using the batteries until the camera can no longer perform recording or playback and then charge them fully. Battery performance will be restored after a few charges and discharges.

••Once the Ni-MH batteries have reached full charge, do not continue to charge them. ••Over time, Ni-MH batteries naturally discharge and their performance lowers even if they are not used. If the batteries are left in the camera in this condition, they will be

drained excessively and may become unusable even if they are charged again. ••When storing the batteries for a long period of time, we recommend charging them

once a year. Remove the batteries from the camera and store them again after they have been completely expended.

••Ni-MH batteries have a limited life. Battery performance gradually decreases over time as you keep using them and time goes by. If the length of time you can use the camera is extremely short even after fully charging the batteries, they may have exceeded their life span. Purchase new batteries.

••Read the operating instructions for the battery charger.

Disposing of used rechargeable batteries ●●Insulate the terminals using adhesive tape etc. ●●Do not disassemble the batteries.
