Jack McCoy talks about compact 3CCD technology

"I’ve been shooting my movies on pro cameras for many years and have now added a 3CCD compact model to my repertoire. I find the 3CCD technology is of the highest quality, which is what I demand in a small, lightweight documentary camera."

"While I use a broadcast 3CCD camera as my main video camera for surfing shots, I use my compact Panasonic camcorder for everything from set up shots to quick grabs that you go for in the documentary style of photography. Shooting from the hip means you are ready to capture what is happening, when it’s happening."

"I have used the compact 3CCD during the shooting of my new

production “Free as a Dog”, starring world ranked surfer, Joel

Parkinson. The combination of the 3CCD system, Leica lens and

O.I.S. allowed us to fully capture the spectacular beauty of the

land

and water locations in the film."

"The 3CCD camera system used in this compact model is the

type used in professional video cameras. Individual CCDs are

used to reproduce the red, green and blue colours that compose

an image - so you get more vivid, true-to-life images."
