Notes on MP3

MP3 (MPEG Audio Layer-3) is a format for compressed audio file. These formats allow users to save all the files contained in approximately 10 pieces of existing CDs on one piece of CD-R/RW.

Note: Each of encoding software is not included with this unit.

*MPEG Layer-3 audio coding technology licensed from Fraunhofer IIS and Thomson.

Cautions as to compressed audio files

¡High bit rate and high sampling frequency are recommended for high quality sounds.

¡Selecting VBR (Variable Bit Rate) is not recom- mended because playing time is not displayed properly and sound may be skipped.

¡The playback sound quality differs depending on the encoding circumstances. For details, refer to the user manual of your own encoding software and writing software.

¡Be sure to put an extension compatible with the format.

¡It is recommended to set the bit rate to “128 kbps or more” and “fixed”.
