Choosing a Text Entry Mode

Multiple text entry modes make it easy for you to enter names, numbers, and messages. The mode you select remains active until you select another mode.

Press M > Entry Mode from a text entry screen to select an entry mode:

Primary	Use your preferred entry method (iTAP or
	Tap Method).
Numeric	Enter numbers only.
Symbol	Enter symbols only (see page 39).
Secondary	Use your alternate entry method (iTAP or
	Tap Method).

You can also press the # key to cycle through entry modes.

Assigning Text Entry Methods

Press M > Entry Setup to assign one of the following entry methods as your Primary and Secondary entry modes:

iTAP	Let the phone predict each word as you
	enter it (see page 36).
Tap Method	Enter letters, numbers, and symbols by
	pressing a key one or more times (see
	following section).
