choosing a text entry method

Multiple text entry methods make it easy for you to enter names, numbers, and messages. The method you select remains active until you select another method.

Press #in any text entry screen to select one of the following entry methods:

Primary

The primary text entry

 

method (see below to set).

Numeric

Enter numbers only (see page

 

42).

Symbol

Enter symbols only (see page

 

42).

iTAP® mode

Press #in a text entry screen to switch to iTAP mode. If you don't see j or p, press M> Entry Setup to set iTAP mode as your primary or secondary text entry mode.

iTAP mode lets you enter words using one keypress per letter. The iTAP software combines your keypresses into common words and predicts each word as you enter it.

For example, if you press 7764, your phone displays:

To set your Primary and Secondary text entry modes, press M> Entry Setup in a text entry view and select Primary setup or Secondary setup.
