HOW TO USE THE HAND PULSE SENSOR

To measure your heart rate, stand on

the foot rails and place your hands on the metal contacts on

the handrail. Your palms must be rest-

ing on the upper contacts, and your fingers must be

touching the lower contactsÑavoid moving your hands. When the hand pulse sensor is used, the CALORIES/PULSE display

will show both the number of

calories you have burned and your heart rate. Every seven seconds, the display will change from one number to the other. The PULSE indica-

tor will light when your heart rate is shown. For the most accurate heart rate reading, hold the contacts for about 15 seconds.

If your heart rate is not displayed, make sure that you are standing on the foot rails and that you are not mov- ing your hands. In addition, be careful not to hold the metal contacts too tightly. For optimal performance of the hand pulse sensor, clean the metal contacts peri- odically using a soft clothÑnever use alcohol, abra- sives, or chemicals.
