GENERAL

The Shure UA830 is a low-noise, in-line antenna amplifier. The UA830 is intended for remote-mounting antennas to a Shure Model UR4 or ULX receiver or Model UA845, or UA844 distribution amplifier in a large in- stallation, effectively shortening the distance from the transmitters. The unit receives power through its output port from the Shure receiver or distribution amplifier. When an antenna is remote-mounted, the UA830 amplifies the received radio signals to compensate for insertion loss in the coaxial cable. A gain selector switch adjusts for longer lengths of co- axial cable.

FEATURES

Compatible with the Shure Model UR4 or ULX wireless microphone receiver and the Shure Model UA845, or UA844 Antenna Distribution System

Mountable on supplied desk-/wall-mount or on a microphone stand

Two-position gain selector switch to adjust for longer coaxial cable lengths (3 dB position for cables under 7 1/2 m [25 ft], 10 dB position for cables over 7 1/2 m [25 ft])

APPLICATION

IMPORTANT: DO NOT USE INFORMATION

This device must not be used with antennas or other

devices that have a DC short circuit at their feed point without using an

external (BNC) DC Block. A suitable BNC DC Block is the JFW Industries Model

50DB-002.

Techniques will vary from setup to setup according to different situa- tions. Usually, the antennas should be as far apart as possible, creating the widest RF field and ensuring signal reception. In a diversity system such as the Shure Model UR4, as in the example in Figure 1, Shure rec- ommends that the two antennas be positioned at 45° angles pointing away from each other (Figure 1). This way, the system is guaranteed the widest possible RF field, minimizing the chance of the RF signal drop- ping out. As a general recommendation, positioning should be tested and adjusted for each individual setup.

UA830 specifications

The Shure UA830 is a high-performance antenna distribution system that plays a critical role in the world of professional wireless audio. Designed for use with Shure’s ULX, ULX-D, and QLX-D wireless systems, the UA830 is engineered to enhance performance by allowing multiple receivers to share antenna signals while minimizing potential interference.

One of the standout features of the UA830 is its capability to distribute antenna signals to up to four wireless receivers. This not only simplifies setup but also ensures optimal performance across all connected devices. With the ability to effectively extend transmission range, the UA830 is ideal for larger venues and complex setups commonly found in concert halls, theaters, and broadcast environments.

The UA830 employs advanced technologies, including low-noise amplification, which ensures that the integrity of the audio signal is maintained even when distributing it across multiple devices. This technology minimizes signal loss and amplifies weak signals, delivering a clearer, more reliable audio experience.

Another impressive characteristic of the UA830 is its versatility. It supports a wide frequency range and is compatible with various Shure wireless systems, making it a crucial component for audio professionals. Its rugged design is built to withstand the rigors of touring and live events, ensuring that it remains reliable in demanding situations.

In terms of connectivity, the UA830 features multiple RF outputs, with each output designed to maintain a 50-ohm impedance, which is key in preventing reflections and ensuring efficient signal transmission. The unit also includes a front panel that facilitates easy monitoring and control, allowing technicians to quickly assess signal strength and performance levels.

Furthermore, the UA830 is equipped with an integrated power supply, which simplifies the installation process and reduces clutter associated with external power sources. It also features a series of LED indicators to provide real-time feedback on device status and signal integrity, allowing for quick troubleshooting when needed.

In summary, the Shure UA830 is an essential tool for professional audio engineers and technicians, offering stellar performance, advanced technologies, and rugged reliability. Its ability to distribute antenna signals effectively across multiple receivers makes it a top choice for enhancing wireless audio systems in a range of environments.
