1Overview

This guide provides phone, soft key, and features descriptions for the Cisco Unified IP Phone 7970G/7971G Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP)multi-line touch-screen phones.

Physical Layout

Your Cisco Unified IP Phone 7970 and Cisco Unified IP Phone 7971 provides touch-screen access, in addition to soft keys and dedicated buttons, allowing you to place and receive phone calls, put calls on hold, transfer calls, make conference calls, and so on.

Programmable

Depending on configuration, programmable buttons provide access to:

Speed-dial numbers (speed-dial buttons, including the BLF speed-dial feature)

 

 

Web-based services (for example, a Personal Address Book button)

 

 

Phone features (for example, a Privacy button)

 

 

Buttons light to indicate status:

 

 

Green, steady—Active call

 

 

Green, flashing—Held call

 

 

Amber, steady—Privacy in use

 

 

Amber, flashing—Incoming call

 

 

Red, steady—Remote line in use (shared line or BLF status)

Footstand button

Allows you to adjust the angle of the phone base.
