Chapter 2: Playing the DG8

MIDI FUNCTIONS

Pressing the MIDI button puts the DG8 into MIDI Edit mode.

Pressing the MIDI button repeatedly will step through the six different pages of the DG8’s MIDI functions.

Press the PLAY button to exit any of the pages in this mode.

Page 1: Basic MIDI Channel

This is the MIDI Channel for Primary Sounds and Layers. The MIDI Channel assignments for Layer Program Changes and Split channels follow sequentially: Layer Program Changes = Basic Channel + 1, Splits = Basic Channel + 2.

The DG8 operates in MIDI “Mode 3: Omni Off/Poly” only, and defaults to MIDI Channel 1. To set the DG8 to transmit and receive on another MIDI Channel:

1.Press the MIDI button. The last MIDI function display that was accessed will be shown. Press the MIDI button repeatedly until the display reads:

BASIC

MIDI Channel = X

... where X is one of the 16 MIDI Channels or Off. When set to Off, the DG8 will neither transmit nor receive MIDI information.

2.Use the and arrows to select the new Basic MIDI Channel or Off.

3.To confirm your selection and exit this mode, press PLAY.

The DG8 transmits and receives the following MIDI data. Exceptions are noted in parentheses:
