Phone line in use: With this network service you can select the phone line (that is, subscriber number) 1 or 2 for making calls, if supported by your SIM card. Calls on both lines can be answered regardless of the selected line.

You cannot make calls if you select line 2 and you have not subscribed to this network service. When line 2 is selected, 2 is shown in standby mode.

Tip: In standby mode, you can switch between the lines by

pressing and holding .

Automatic answer: You can set the phone to answer an incoming call after one ring when the phone is connected to the PPH-1 handsfree car kit or the HDC-5 headset. When using the car kit, note that some cigarette charger plugs do not provide power when the ignition is off. This function does not work when the Incoming call alert: function is set to Off.

Phone settings (Menu 6-2)

Language: You can select the language for the display texts.

Cell info display: You can set the phone to indicate when it is used in a network based on Micro Cellular Network (MCN) technology (network service). In such a network, local calls may cost less than otherwise.

Welcome note: You can write a note that is shown briefly when the phone is switched on.

Network selection: You can set the phone to automatically select a cellular network available in your area, or you may select the desired network from a list (Manual).

The network must have a roaming agreement with your home network. If no such agreement exists, No Access will be displayed and you must select another network.

The phone stays in manual mode until the automatic mode is selected or another SIM card is inserted into the phone.

Lights: You can set the display and keypad lights on or off when the phone is connected to the PPH-1 handsfree car kit.

Confirm SIM service actions: You can set the phone to show (Asked) or hide (Not asked) confirmation messages when you use SIM card services (see page 31).

Security settings (Menu 6-3)

PIN code request: You can set the phone to ask for the PIN code of the SIM card when the phone is switched on. Some SIM cards do not allow turning off this function.
