Using Special Features

Do Not Disturb (All Calls)

DND allows you to mute the ringer of all registered handsets and the base. With the phone in standby, press and hold [dnd] on the base. You will hear a confirmation tone and the [dnd] light illuminates. To cancel, press [dnd] again. You can also mute the ringer tone while the phone is ringing by pressing [dnd] on the base.

Note: If the answering system is off, it will automatically turn on when you activate DND. If you turn the answering machine off while DND is on, DND automatically turns off along with the answering machine.

Muting the Ringer (One Call Only)

While a handset is ringing, press the MUTE soft key on the handset or base, [ ] on the handset, or [/exit] on the base to mute the ringer for this call. The phone will ring again normally on the next call. (The handset must be off the cradle to mute the ringer.)

Muting the Microphone

Mute turns off the microphone so the caller can not hear you. The display shows the MUTE ON icon while the micro- phone is muted.

) While you are on a call, press the MUTE soft key.

2)MUTE ON will appear in the display for 2 seconds, but the icon will appear and remain in the display until the feature is turned off.

3)To cancel muting, press the MUTE soft key. MUTE OFF appears.

Privacy Mode

If you don’t want another station to interrupt you while on a call, you can turn on privacy mode. As long as your sta- tion is in privacy mode, other stations won’t be able to join your call or make any calls of their own.

From the Handset

) While on a call, press the PRIVACY soft key.
