MT 550 specifications

Cobra Electronics has established itself as a prominent name in the realm of two-way radio communication devices, and the Cobra MT 550 is a testament to its commitment to innovation and quality. Built for avid outdoor enthusiasts, this rugged two-way radio is designed to meet the communication needs of hikers, campers, and adventure seekers alike.

One of the standout features of the MT 550 is its impressive range. With a range of up to 28 miles under optimal conditions, users can stay connected over vast distances, making it ideal for exploring remote areas. The device operates on the GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) frequency, which provides stronger signals compared to standard FRS radios, granting users clearer communication over longer ranges.

The MT 550 is packed with advanced technologies that enhance its functionality. It includes the patented Rewind-Say-Again™ feature, allowing users to replay the last incoming voice transmission, a handy function when dealing with background noise or if a message was missed. Additionally, the radio is equipped with a 121 privacy codes feature. This allows users to create private communication channels by filtering out unwanted conversations on the same frequency.

Another significant aspect of the MT 550 is its robust construction. The radio is designed to withstand tough outdoor conditions, boasting an IPX4 water resistance rating. This ensures that users don’t have to worry about splashes or rain damaging their device during adventures. Furthermore, the built-in flashlight provides added functionality, proving useful in low-light situations.

User-friendly controls and a backlit LCD screen make the MT 550 easy to use, even in challenging environments. The buttons are large enough to be operated with gloves, ensuring that users can adjust settings without fumbling. The display provides essential readouts, including battery life, channel information, and signal strength, keeping users informed at a glance.

Battery life is another strong feature of the Cobra MT 550. It operates on rechargeable NiMH batteries, providing extended talk time. Users can also opt for alkaline batteries for more extended outings, ensuring they remain connected. The included charging dock makes recharging straightforward and convenient.

In summary, the Cobra Electronics MT 550 is an outstanding communication tool that combines durability, technology, and user-friendly features, making it an essential companion for anyone venturing into the great outdoors. Its long-range capabilities, privacy features, and rugged design ensure that staying in touch during outdoor pursuits has never been more efficient.
