Your transceiver will achieve its maximum operating range when communi- cating with other transceivers in a flat open area with no trees or buildings obstructing its signal. Range may be up to two miles under such conditions. Obstacles such as buildings, trees or mountains will tend to reduce the transceiver’s effective range.

If you choose to hold the unit, maintain the same antenna distance from your body as indicated above. Unauthorized antennas, modifications, or attachments could damage the transmitter and may violate FCC regulations.
