Safety Mode (On/Off)

The iWAY has a Safety Mode to prevent vehicle drivers from operating the GPS while the vehicle is in motion. The unit will navigate and play music while moving, but the keyboard and touch-screen buttons are temporarily disabled whenever Safety Mode is on. The keyboard and screen buttons become responsive when the vehicle stops.

However, if a passenger is available to act as navigator, Safety Mode can be turned off. This switches the unit to Passenger Mode and allows the passenger to operate the unit while the vehicle is moving.

To disable Safety Mode and switch to Passenger Mode, make sure the vehicle is not moving and, from the Main Menu, choose SAFETY MODE to toggle whether the option is on or off. The button itself will show its current state.

A dialog like the one in the following image appears. Choose YES to dis- able Safety Mode and return to the Main Menu.

Safety Mode disable menu.
