When it finally has to leave your route (take a detour), it marks the spot where it leaves your current route. The distance in the "To Ext" column shows how far along your current route it is before you detour to get to the POI. The "From Ext" column shows you how far away from your current route the POI is – how long the detour is.

So if you're on a cross-country trip, you might choose to go to a gas station that's fifteen miles away, if it's only a quarter mile off the highway, in- stead of a gas station five miles away that's five miles off your route! Then again, if your Low Fuel warning light is on and you're driving on fumes, you might prefer the closer gas station. The iWAY provides you all the details, so you can choose the right destination for your travel plans.
