AMX-4 Portable Amplified Speaker System

Your Optimus AMX-4 Portable Ampli- fied Speaker System lets you take ex- cellent stereo sound with you almost anywhere. You can connect the speakers to any personal audio source, such as a cassette player, por- table CD player, or radio with a 1/8-inch jack. Its bass and treble boost controls let you adjust high and low frequency response for enhanced sound.

CONNECTING POWER

Using Batteries

You can power the system from four C batteries. For best performance, we recommend RadioShack alkaline bat- teries.

Follow these steps to install batteries in each speaker.

1.Lift the tab on the battery compart- ment cover in the direction of the arrow and remove the cover.

2.Install two C batteries as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and –) in- side the compartment.

3.Replace the cover.

4.Repeat Steps 1–3 for the other speaker.

Note: If the sound becomes weak or the red indicator dims, replace the batteries.

Caution: To avoid damage to the sys- tem, remove the batteries if you do not plan to use the speakers for a month or more, or if you plan to use AC or DC power.

Using AC Power

You can power the speakers from a standard AC outlet with an AC adapter (not supplied), available at your local RadioShack store.

Cautions:

You must use an AC adapter that supplies 9 volts DC and delivers at least 500 milliamps. Its center tip must be set to positive and its plug must correctly fit the system's DC 9V 500 mA jack. Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could seriously damage the system or the adapter.
