SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Read and understand this entire section before operat- ing the machine.

WARNING

ELECTRIC SHOCK can kill.

Do not touch electrically live parts or electrode with skin or wet clothing.

Insulate yourself from work and ground.

Always wear dry insulating gloves.

Read and follow “Electric Shock Warnings” in the Safety section if welding must be per- formed under electrically hazardous condi- tions such as welding in wet areas or on or in the workpiece.

FUMES AND GASES

can be dangerous.

• Keep your head out of fumes.

Use ventilation or exhaust to remove fumes from breathing zone.

WELDING SPARKS

can cause fire or explosion

Keep flammable material away.

Do not weld on containers that have held combustibles.

ARC RAYS can burn.

• Wear eye, ear and body protection.

Observe additional Safety Guidelines detailed in the beginning of this manual.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Square Wave TIG 175 is a constant current, single range AC/DC TIG (GTAW) arc welding power source with built-in arc starter / stabilizer. It also has stick weld- ing (SMAW) capability.

The Square Wave TIG 175 is recommended for the TIG (GTAW) and stick (SMAW) welding processes within its output capacity of 10 to 175 amps, on both AC and DC polarity.

INCLUDED EQUIPMENT

For GTAW (TIG Welding):

TIG connector (Twistmate adaptor)

Strain relief boot

For SMAW (Stick Welding):

Electrode holder with cable and Twistmate plug

For Installation and startup:

Work Cable and Clamp

WELDING CAPABILITY

The Square Wave TIG 175 is rated at 150 amps, 16 volts, at 25% duty cycle on a ten minute basis. It is capable of higher duty cycles at lower output currents. It is capable of 175 amps, 27 volts at a lower duty cycle. If the duty cycle is exceeded, a thermal protec- tor will shut off the output until the machine cools.
