Design Suggestions

When designing a successful dust collection sys- tem, planning is the most important step. Before you set out to run the first section of duct, con- sider these general guidelines for an efficient sys- tem:

1.Machines that produce the most saw dust should be placed closest to the dust collec- tor. These machines include thickness plan- ers, shapers, sanders and bandsaws.

2.Ideally, you should design the duct system to have the shortest possible mainline run and to have short secondary branch ducts.

3.Directional changes should be kept to a min- imum. The more directional change fittings you use, the greater the loss of overall pres- sure.

4.Gradual directional changes are more effi- cient than sudden directional changes (i.e. use the largest corner radius possible when changing hose or pipe direction).

5.Each individual machine should have a blast gate to control suction from one machine to another.

6.The simpler the system, the more efficient and less costly it will be.

The best way to plan your new system is to draw a bird’s eye view (as shown in Figure 24) of your shop and sketch the following:

1.Your desired location of the dust collector, usually in a corner or along a wall.

2.The location of each machine in the system.

3.The location of the main line duct and each branch line.

4.The location of any obtrusion such as a joist or heating duct, that will require special duct routing.

Model G0562 specifications

The Grizzly Model G0562 is a versatile tool that has gained recognition among woodworkers for its robust features and advanced technologies. Primarily designed as a 16” band saw, it caters to both hobbyists and professionals, providing the capability to handle a wide range of cutting tasks with precision and ease.

One of the standout features of the G0562 is its powerful 2 HP motor, which ensures reliable performance and the ability to tackle thick hardwoods without stalling or compromise on speed. With a blade speed of 3,100 feet per minute, it allows for quick and efficient cutting, making it ideal for both resawing and intricate curves. The machine can accommodate blade widths ranging from 1/8” to 3/4”, providing users with the flexibility to choose the appropriate blade for their specific tasks.

The G0562 also incorporates an impressive 12” resaw capacity, a feature that significantly enhances its functionality. This allows users to cut thick pieces of wood into thinner slices, making it perfect for creating veneers or for those who wish to achieve more complex wood designs. The built-in adjustable fence ensures straight cuts, while the integrated miter gauge facilitates precise angled cuts.

Durability is a significant characteristic of the Grizzly G0562. It is built with a heavy-duty cast iron frame, reducing vibrations and contributing to stable operation. This not only prolongs the life of the machine but also improves the accuracy of every cut. Additionally, the saw features high-quality, precision ball bearings that contribute to smooth blade movement and extended longevity.

For safety and ease of use, the G0562 includes an oversized cast iron table that measures 16” x 24”, providing ample workspace and stability during cutting operations. The table is also tilt-adjustable, allowing for bevel cuts, which adds to its versatility. Furthermore, Grizzly has implemented an effective dust collection port, ensuring a cleaner workspace by minimizing sawdust accumulation.

In summary, the Grizzly Model G0562 is a well-engineered band saw equipped with a powerful motor, impressive resaw capacity, and built with durable materials. Its features cater to a broad range of woodworking projects, making it an essential addition to any workshop seeking efficiency, precision, and safety in their cutting tasks.
