1.Shut engine off, and disconnect spark plug wire. Lay unit on ground with trimmer head
assembly up.
2.Hold drum and turn knob clockwise several turns to allow spool to disengage pegs from drum.
3.Pull out on spool and rotate counterclockwise to feed addi- tional trimmer line through eyelets.
Each index hole will feed about 38 mm (1 1/2 in.) of line.
4.Release spool to engage pegs with drum, and pull lines out to remove remaining slack.
5.Hold drum and turn knob counterclockwise to tighten
nylon line replacement
1.Shut engine off, and disconnect spark plug wire. Lay unit on ground with
trimmer head assembly up.
2.Hold drum (A) firmly, and turn knob (B) clockwise. Remove knob and spring (C).
3.Pull spool (D) from drum (A), and pull drum (A) off mounting shaft.
4.Use one piece of new nylon line (E) and thread through the molded loop (F) on the spool. Pull line tight and adjust so one end is 15 cm (6 in.) longer than the other.
5.Hold the spool, pegs toward you. Place index finger be- tween the two strands, and wind line tightly and evenly in the direction of arrow. Avoid twisting lines.
6.Place ends of lines into notches (G) in spool (D), leaving 6 in. protruding.
7.Place spool (D) over drum (A), Feed ends of line outward through eyelets (H) in drum.
8.Hold spool and drum securely with one hand, and pull each line to disengage from notches.
9.Slide drum and spool onto mounting shaft.
10.Place spring (C) over mounting shaft, and secure spool with knob (B). Turn knob counterclockwise to tighten.
11. Trim lines to 8 in. length.
