Tool Rests

The tool rests attach to the inward side of the guard and must be used to support the workpiece during operation. Failure to install and use the tool rests can lead to serious personal injury!

To install the tool rests:

 

1.Loosely attach the tool rests perpen- dicular to the surface of each wheel with the wing bolts and 4mm washers.

2.Adjust both tool rests approximately 18" from the grinding and buffing wheels and tighten the wing bolts. Figure 2 shows the correct adjustment for the tool rest at the grinding wheel.

Eye Shields

The eye shield must be positioned between the grinding or buffing wheel and the operator’s face to protect the operator from flying debris. The eye shields are not a replacement for safety glasses!

To install the eye shields:

1.Attach the eye shield brackets to the buffer with the 5mm Phillips head screws, flat washers, lock washers and hex nuts, as shown in Figure 3.
