Configuring WAN Interfaces

Configuring the ATM CPE SIDE

Perform the following steps to configure the ATM CPE side, starting in global configuration mode.

SUMMARY STEPS

1.interface type number

2.no shutdown

3.interface atm0.1 point-to-point

4.ip address ip-address mask

5.ppvc [name] vpi/vci

6.protocol protocol {protocol-address[virtual-template] inarp} [[no] broadcast disable-check-subnet [no] enable-check-subnet]

DETAILED STEPS

 

Command

Purpose

 

 

 

Step 1

interface type number

Enters configuration mode for the ATM

 

Example:

 

WAN interface (ATM0).

 

 

 

 

Router (config) # interface atm0

 

 

 

 

Step 2

no shutdown

Enables the configuration changes to

 

Example:

 

the ATM interface.

 

 

 

 

Router (config-if) # no

 

 

shutdown

 

 

Router (config-if) #

 

 

 

 

Step 3

interface atm0.1 point-to-point

Enables the ATM0.1 point-to-point

 

Example:

Step 4

ip address ip-address mask

Enters IP address and subnet mask.

pvc [name] vpi/vci

Creates or assigns a name to an ATM

 

Example:

 

PVC and enters the ATM virtual circuit
