Double Insulated Tools: Tools With Two Prong Plugs

1.Tools marked “Double Insulated” do not require grounding. They have a special double insulation system which satisfies OSHA requirements and complies with the applicable standards of Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., the Canadian Standard Association, and the National Electrical Code. (See Figure B.)

2.Double insulated tools may be used in either of the 120 volt outlets shown in the preceding illustration. (See Figure B.)

Extension Cords

1.Grounded tools require a three wire extension cord. Double Insulated tools can use either a two or three wire extension cord.

2.As the distance from the supply outlet increases, you must use a heavier gauge extension cord. Using extension cords with inadequately sized wire causes a seri- ous drop in voltage, resulting in loss of power and possible tool damage.

(See Figure C, next page.)

3.The smaller the gauge number of the wire, the greater the capacity of the cord. For example, a 14 gauge cord can carry a higher current than a 16 gauge cord.

(See Figure C.)

4.When using more than one extension cord to make up the total length, make sure each cord contains at least the minimum wire size required. (See Figure C.)

5.If you are using one extension cord for more than one tool, add the nameplate am- peres and use the sum to determine the required minimum cord size.

(See Figure C.)

6.If you are using an extension cord outdoors, make sure it is marked with the suffix “W-A” (“W” in Canada) to indicate it is acceptable for outdoor use.

7.Make sure your extension cord is properly wired and in good electrical condition. Always replace a damaged extension cord or have it repaired by a qualified electri- cian before using it.

8.Protect your extension cords from sharp objects, excessive heat, and damp or wet areas.

The Harbor Freight Tools 95088 is primarily a 12-inch sliding compound miter saw, designed to deliver precision and power in cutting various materials. It is particularly praised for its dual-bevel capabilities, allowing users to make angled cuts in both left and right orientations. This feature is indispensable for complex cuts, making the 95088 an ideal choice for framing, molding, and other intricate woodworking projects.

One of the main highlights of the 95088 is its robust 15-amp motor, which delivers an impressive no-load speed of up to 4,800 RPM. This powerful motor ensures that even thick materials can be cut with ease and efficiency. The saw is equipped with a laser guide system that enhances accuracy, allowing users to see the cut line clearly and make precise adjustments before cutting.

The 95088 also features a large table that provides ample support for long workpieces, coupled with extension wings to further accommodate larger materials. This design enhances stability and helps prevent the material from wobbling during cuts. Additionally, the saw has a positive stop system with commonly used angles, making it easy to switch between different cutting positions without unnecessary adjustments.

In terms of safety, the Harbor Freight Tools 95088 is equipped with a blade guard that covers the blade during operation, reducing the risk of accidents. The electric brake feature stops the blade quickly when the trigger is released, which is crucial for maintaining control.
