ROUTINE LUBRICATION REQUIREMENTS

Lack of or an excessive amount of lubrication will affect the perfor- mance and life of this tool. Use only recommended lubricants at below time intervals:

EVERY 8 HOURS OF TOOL OPERATION - Fill lubricator reser- voir of recommended F.R.L. with spindle oil (29665).

EVERY 160 HOURS OF TOOL OPERATION - Inject NLGI #1 “EP”grease (33153) 1 to 2 strokes, thru grease fitting in gear housing. NOTE: Spindle must be extended from outer sleeve suf- ficiently to expose grease fitting in gear housing. Gearing should contain approximately 1/8 oz. (3.5 g) of grease.

AIR SUPPLY REQUIREMENTS

For maximum operating efficiency, the following air supply specifi- cations should be maintained to this air tool:

lAIR PRESSURE - 90 PSIG (6 bar)

lAIR FILTRATION - 50 micron

lLUBRICATED AIR SUPPLY

lHOSE SIZE - 5/16” (8 mm) I.D.

An ARO@ model C28231-810 air line FILTER/REGULATOR/LU- BRICATOR (F.R.L.) is recommended to maintain the above air supply specifications.

MOUNTING

The nose end of the outer sleeve (41) is provided with 1-7/16” - 18 L.H. threads [remove thread guard (47) for use] and a 1-7/1 6” x 1/2” long pilot diameter for fixture mounting. Foot and flange type mounting brackets are available for tool mounting.

SET-UP PROCEDURE

WARNING: Keep clear of rotating end of unit with hands and/or clothing. Keep fingers/hands from being pinched between hous- ing or valves and adjustment screws and/or trip bracket.

lLoosen two screws (29) and remove cover (1).

0Allow a minimum distance of 1/4” between the drill point of the unit and the workpiece. This is necessary for the air motor to start and reach free speed before the drill point touches the

workpiece.

aDetermine the TOTAL STROKE LENGTH the drill must travel to perform the drilling operation -see illustration below.

aLoosen jam nut (8) and turn adjustment screw “A”so the dis- tance between the end of the screw and the stud (26) equals

the total stroke length.

lTighten jam nut (8).

lLoosen jam nut (8) and turn adjustment screw “B”(valve in- head models only) so the distance between the end of the screw and the button bleed valve (25) is slightly GREATER than the distance set for adjustment screw “A”.

0Start and let the unit advance until the adjustment screw “A”

makes contact with the stud (26).

aCarefully, and be aware that the unit is going to retract, turn the adjustment screw “B”until it depresses the button bleed valve

(25) enough to cause the unit to retract.

lTighten jam nut (8).

lSee “FEEDRATE CONTROL VALVES”, page 2.

8345-B, 8245-B specifications

Ingersoll-Rand is a renowned name in the field of air compressors, and their series of portable air compressors, specifically the models 8245-B and 8345-B, stand out for their performance and reliability. These models are often utilized in construction, automotive, and industrial applications, delivering consistent airflow and power.

The Ingersoll-Rand 8245-B is designed for efficiency and ease of use. With a robust 8-gallon tank, it provides a steady supply of compressed air for various tools and equipment. This model boasts a powerful 3.5 HP engine, which allows it to achieve a maximum pressure of up to 135 PSI. The lightweight and compact design make it easy to transport, while the integrated control panel offers user-friendly operation, allowing for quick adjustments to pressure settings.

Similarly, the Ingersoll-Rand 8345-B elevates the standards with its enhanced features. This model increases the tank capacity to 10 gallons and is equipped with a more powerful 5 HP engine. This upgrade enables it to flow a greater volume of air – up to 24 CFM at 90 PSI. This higher airflow rate makes it ideal for heavy-duty applications that demand sustained usage over extended periods. It maintains a maximum pressure of 145 PSI, ensuring that tools always have sufficient air supply.

Both models incorporate advanced technologies to enhance performance. The inclusion of an oil-lubricated pump contributes to improved efficiency and lower operating temperatures, prolonging the life of the compressor. The design minimizes vibration and noise, making them suitable for use in environments where quieter operation is required. These air compressors feature a durable construction, with corrosion-resistant materials ensuring their longevity even in challenging working conditions.

Safety is also a priority in both models, as they come equipped with protective features like thermal overload protection, which prevents overheating and potential damage to the unit. Additionally, the easy-to-read pressure gauges ensure that users can monitor and adjust pressure levels effectively.

The versatility and reliability of the Ingersoll-Rand 8245-B and 8345-B make them suitable options for both professional and DIY users. Their robust construction, powerful engines, and innovative technologies set them apart as dependable choices in any job requiring a reliable source of compressed air.
