3 Errors, warnings, and status messages

Insight managed system setup wizard provides error checking, warnings, and status messages throughout the steps of the wizard.

The Select Features page checks the requirements of the features you have selected for the target systems. If necessary the wizard selects additional features or systems to meet all dependencies for the selected features on the target systems.

When managed system setup wizard selects additional features or additional target systems, the wizard provides a note with details of what selections were added and what dependencies required the additional selections.

The Analyze Systems page analyzes the target systems to determine the remaining steps required for configuring the selected features.

Expanding each system reveals the details of the analysis and any error messages and suggested fixes. When the analysis has determined that a management feature cannot be configured on a system, the wizard also lists information on resolving the issue.

NOTE: Any failures indicated in the analysis results must be resolved before proceeding to the next step of the wizard. Refer to the details and resolution information that is provided as part of the analysis task results.

If you cannot immediately resolve a failure that is indicated in the analysis results, your alternatives are to remove the system from the wizard or return to the Select Features step and deselect the feature that failed analysis for the system.

Complete details of all analysis subtasks are provided on the Analyze Systems page of the

wizard. You also can view the analysis results using the HP SIM View Task Results page: select Tasks & Logs→View Task Results... from the HP SIM top menu and select the job ID of the managed system setup wizard analysis task.

The Summary page lists the actions that will be performed on the target systems to configure the selected features. Warnings are listed on this page for any systems that might be rebooted or will be rebooted as part of the target system configurations.

The Results page gives complete details of all subtasks performed to configure the selected features during the execution phase. You also can view the managed system setup wizard execution results using the HP SIM View Task Results page.

When using the managed system setup wizard, if the connection to the CMS fails for any reason you may see a “Consumer Subscribe Error” error message in a pop-up window. Normally a second pop-up window describes the error in more detail.

If the “Consumer Subscribe Error” error occurs, cancel the wizard and restart it from HP SIM.

This error can occur when information has been requested from the CMS web server by the managed system setup wizard interface running in your web browser. The connection between the wizard and the CMS could fail due to many reasons, for example, when HP SIM is restarted on the CMS, or by an unreliable or intermittent network connection to the CMS.
