HP OpenView Storage Data Protector
5. Backing Up & Restoring Data in the Cluster
To backup data contained in the shared storage of the cluster, the shared disk should be mounted. This can be done by specifying the shared disk as a cluster resource in the package. Starting the package on a host will make it as active node in the cluster (identified by a virtual IP address) and the shared disk will be mounted on the specified mount point. If the Data Protector agents (such as Disk Agent, Media Agent, Oracle integration agent, SAP R/3 integration agent etc.) are running on the active node and the virtual host has been imported to the Data Protector Cell, the backup of shared disk can be performed using Data Protector.
5.1.Backup
5.1.1File system Backup
3.Install the Data Protector Disk Agent and Media Agent on the cluster nodes as described in earlier section.
3.Import the virtual host into the Data Protector Cell as described in earlier section. Now Data Protector can access the shared data in the cluster.
3.Configure a file system backup. Please refer to the chapter “Backup” in the “HP OpenView Storage Data Protector Administrator’s Guide” (Admin.pdf) for details such as creating a backup specification and backing up UNIX systems.
5.1.2Oracle Backup
3.Install the Data Protector Oracle Agent on the cluster nodes as described in the earlier section.
3.Import the virtual host into the Data Protector Cell as described in earlier section. Now Data Protector can access the shared data in the cluster.
3.Configure the Oracle integration and backup. For the procedure of configuring oracle backup in DP 5.1, please refer to the topic “Configuring an Oracle8/9 Backup” in the chapter “Integrating Oracle8/9 and Data Protector” of the “HP OpenView Storage Data Protector UNIX Integration Guide” (IntegrationUX.pdf). For the procedure of configuring oracle backup in DP 5.5, please refer to the topic “Configuring an Oracle Backup” in the chapter “Integrating Oracle and Data Protector” of “HP OpenView Storage Data Protector Integration Guide for Oracle and SAP” (IntegrationORASAP.pdf).
