To move desktop icons to the Unused Desktop Shortcuts folder:

1Click Start.

2Choose Control Panel.

3Click Appearance and Themes.

4Click Display.

5On the Desktop tab, click Customise Desktop.

6Under Desktop cleanup, click Clean Desktop Now.

7Follow the onscreen directions to remove unused desktop icons.

You can return desktop icons to your desktop by opening the Unused Desktop Shortcuts folder on your desktop and dragging an icon onto the desktop.

Using the Disk Cleanup utility

1Click Start.

2Choose All Programs.

3Choose Accessories.

4Choose System Tools.

5Click Disk Cleanup. Wait for the calculations to complete.

6Select the files you want to delete, and click OK, and then click Yes.

Reinstalling programs

You can reinstall most programs that came with your PC.

For programs that came on CDs or DVDs, just reinsert the disc, and follow the onscreen instructions.

For preinstalled programs, follow the steps in “Application Recovery” on page 103.
