Before you type a password, check the status of Num Lock in the Status Panel. Normally, you’d want it off so you can type letters.
Use the following steps to set up password security.
1.Run the System Configuration Utility and use its System menu Passwords commands (rebooting is not required).
Run HP User Tools and click the OmniBook button on the Setup tab. Then click the Password tab.
2.Choose to set a user or administrator password according to the table below. The password can contain up to eight characters. The display shows * for each character in your password. After you type the password, press TAB and type it again in the Verify box.
3.Set or clear the password options you want according to the table below.
