General guidelines for all panels:

1.Whenever moving panels, transport them with the shortest dimension in the vertical position to reduce potential stress or breaking of the fiberglass. Do not move panels parallel to the floor without additional support.

2.If light colored fabrics are used, it may be a good idea to wear white cotton gloves so dirt, grease or grime from the skin is not transferred to the fabric.

3.Lay out panels with a laser level (preferred), hand level or chalk line to ensure uniform installation. If panels are being placed directly up against one another, use the first panel as a reference point for adjoining panels to be installed.

4.Make sure the wall has a completely flat surface to install the panels to. Shim the panels if necessary to create a uniform front surface.

Installation using Adhesive

1.Make sure the wall is primed or painted with no dust or dirt and that the surface is flat with no protruding elements.

2.Mark the intended location of each panel on the wall.

3.With a putty knife, apply a thin coating of Tubetak Pro liquid adhesive in 4”x4” squares to the back of the panel on 18” centers to prime the substrate. Do not place any adhesive closer than 3” from the edge of the panel.

(See figure 2.2)

4.Reapply adhesive onto primed areas in egg sized dabs.

5.Position the panel at marked installation location and press against the wall to flatten and spread out the adhesive.

6.Do not apply excessive pressure to a single or multiple small locations on the panel so as to crush or dent the fiberglass core.

7.Remove the panel and press against the wall for a second time making sure it is in its final position.

8.Block panel for 24-48 hours while adhesive sets or secure panel with finish nails. (see figure 2.1)

Note on adhesives:

The use of adhesives is highly suggested on all panel thicknesses to ensure a secure installation, though it is only mandatory for panels thicker than 2” or if they are being attached to the ceiling.

Use ONLY water-based, heavy bodied adhesives, such as Auralex’s Tubetak Pro.

Use one tube of Tubetak Pro liquid adhesive for every 32 sq. ft. of 1” panels and every 16 sq. ft. of 2” panels.

Panels specifications

Auralex Acoustics is a leading manufacturer of soundproofing and acoustic treatment products, recognized for their innovative design and high-quality materials. Their acoustic panels are specifically engineered to improve sound quality in various environments, including recording studios, home theaters, and office spaces.

One of the main features of Auralex Acoustics panels is their ability to reduce sound reflections and echoes. These panels are made of high-density fiberglass or foam, which effectively absorb sound waves rather than allowing them to bounce off hard surfaces. This absorption helps create a more controlled acoustic environment, ideal for capturing clear audio and enhancing listening experiences.

Auralex employs advanced technologies in the design of their panels. For instance, their StudiofoamĀ® panels are crafted using proprietary formulations that offer excellent performance across a broad range of frequencies. This versatility makes them suitable for a variety of applications, from music production to cinematic sound design. The panels come in various thicknesses, which allows users to customize their installations based on specific acoustic needs.

In addition to their functional benefits, Auralex Acoustics panels are designed with aesthetics in mind. They are available in multiple colors and styles, allowing users to choose options that complement their decor. This feature is particularly important for professionals who work in environments where the visual appeal of a space is as vital as its acoustic properties.

Another significant characteristic of Auralex panels is their lightweight and easy-to-install nature. Most panels can be mounted using adhesive, making the installation process simple and accessible. This feature not only aids in time-efficient setups but also allows individuals without specialized skills to achieve professional-quality acoustic treatment.

Durability is another key aspect of Auralex products. The materials used are designed to withstand wear and tear while maintaining their effectiveness over time. This long-lasting quality ensures that users receive consistent performance without the need for frequent replacements.

In summary, Auralex Acoustics panels are an excellent investment for anyone seeking to improve sound quality in their space. With features like sound absorption, aesthetic versatility, lightweight installation, and durability, these panels address both practical and visual considerations of acoustic management. Whether for professional studios or personal projects, Auralex offers solutions that enhance the auditory experience.
