Chapter 2: Features

2. Features

Chilled water (CW) is supplied to the Cold Row CW unit via a building chiller or other chilled water plant. Chilled water has high affinity for heat, making it a very efficient cooling method. The E² controller enables independent valve and fan control so the unit can adjust immediately, and precisely, to varying heat loads and optimize energy efficiency.

Two models are available:

cold row chilled water(CW) engineering manual, crcw24, crcw-12 specifications

The Black Box Cold Row Chilled Water (CW) Engineering Manual focuses on the CRCW-12 and CRCW-24 models, designed for precision cooling in data centers and critical environments. These systems play a vital role in ensuring optimal temperature management, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and equipment longevity.

One of the main features of the CRCW-12 and CRCW-24 units is their high cooling capacity. The CRCW-12 provides a cooling capacity of 12 tons, while the CRCW-24 doubles this capacity with 24 tons. This robust performance makes these units suitable for diverse applications, from small server rooms to large data centers.

Another key characteristic is their modular design, allowing for easy scalability. This flexibility enables users to expand their cooling capabilities as their infrastructure grows, making it an excellent long-term investment. The compact footprint of both models ensures they can fit into tight spaces without sacrificing performance.

In terms of energy efficiency, both CRCW models incorporate advanced technologies such as variable speed fans and compressors. These components adjust their speed according to real-time cooling demand, significantly reducing energy consumption. This smart technology not only lowers operational costs but also contributes to environmental sustainability.

The systems are equipped with state-of-the-art controls that facilitate precise temperature management. These controls enable remote monitoring and management through integrated software platforms, making it easier for facility managers to oversee cooling performance and make necessary adjustments.

Additionally, the CRCW series includes features like dual refrigerant circuits, which increase reliability by allowing the system to maintain operation even if one circuit fails. This redundancy is crucial for mission-critical environments where cooling cannot be compromised.

Noise reduction is another notable characteristic. Both models are designed with sound-dampening technology, making them suitable for environments where low noise levels are essential, such as offices adjacent to data centers.

The use of high-quality materials and components ensures durability and prolonged service life. Regular maintenance is simplified with easily accessible parts, allowing for efficient servicing and lower downtime.

In conclusion, the Black Box CRCW-12 and CRCW-24 cold row chilled water systems are engineered to meet the rigorous demands of modern data centers. Their combination of high cooling capacity, energy efficiency, modular design, and advanced control technologies makes them a preferred choice for reliable and effective temperature management.
