READ AND UNDERSTAND THESE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE INSTALLING FIXTURE

This fixture is intended for installation in accordance with the National Electrical Code and local regulations. To assure full compliance with local codes and regulations, check with your local electrical inspector before installation. To prevent electrical shock, turn off electricity at fuse box before proceeding.

Retain these instructions for maintenance reference.

NEW INSTALLATION

A. INSTALLING EMERGENCY BALLAST TO STANDARD FRAME-IN KIT (Fig. 1 and 8).

1.Before placing FRAME-IN KIT in the ceiling, install EMERGENCY BALLAST to the center of MOUNTING FRAME BRACKET as shown.

2.Tighten SCREW to secure two units together.

3.Remove JUNCTION BOX COVER and appropriate J-Box K.O., then attach

EMERGENCY BALLAST BX CONNECTOR.

WIRING - Read and understand all instructions before proceeding.

Make sure AC power is off at the fuse box.

Regular ballast and emergency ballast must be fed from the same branch circuit.

Be sure all electrical connections are made and junction box is closed before connecting inverter connectors in switch/indicator light box.

In switched fixtures, emergency ballast must be connected ahead of any local switching.

Emergency ballast is shipped from the factory ready for 120V or 277V supply connection. Line Voltage selecton is made at switch box. For 120V, remove wire nut from 120V lead (black) and connect to black lead of test switch, then cap the 277V lead (orange).

B.INSTRUCTIONS FOR WIRING EMERGENCY BALLAST FOR (1) OR (2) 4-PIN LAMPS ELECTRONIC A.C. BALLAST FRAME-IN KIT

1.Before converting to emergency lighting, please identify no. of lamps and wattage of frame-in kit, then select appropriate Wiring Diagram A, B or C for rewiring. There is a requirement to remove lamp leads from A.C. ballast, and reconnect to emergency ballast.

2.Disconnect either BLUE LAMP LEAD from BALLAST by inserting conductor of RED JUMPER (provided) into open terminal of QUICK CONNECTOR of BALLAST as shown in Fig. 2. Gently pull BLUE LAMP LEAD out. Then remove RED JUMPER for later use.

3.Repeat step 2 (above) to remove other BLUE LAMP LEAD, and one appropriate RED OR YELLOW LAMP LEAD from BALLAST (Fig. 2) and wiring diagrams.

4.Insert appropriate RED OR YELLOW JUMPER into the terminal where the RED

OR YELLOW LAMP LEAD was previously removed from QUICK CONNECTOR (Fig. 3).

5.Follow WIRING DIAGRAM A, or B, or C to complete the wiring at FLEX “A”.
