WARNING: Before installing or servicing a humidifier, air filter, heat system, or this unit, etc., always turn all power OFF and have unit unplugged. Electrical shock can cause personal injury or death. Never expose eyes or skin to direct UVC light from any source.

WARNING: To prevent water damage or electric shock, do not mount unit under a humidifier.

WARNING: Designed for a closed duct system. Do not mount near a supply or a return air opening.

WARNING: This product is designed for indoor installation only (i.e. attics, crawl spaces, basements, etc.). For use on gas fired, oil fired, electric and split system heat pump forced air systems*. This product is NOT designed to be mounted outside on gas fired or heat pump packaged units**.

*Split system heat pumps are systems where the air handler and the air conditioning compressor are separate units.

**Packaged units are systems where the air handler and the air conditioning compressor are built together and are installed outside of the building

III.INSTALLATION

1.Locate a suitable location for the unit downstream from the ‘A’ coil in the supply plenum or in the return plenum; preferably downstream from the air filter. For optimum “cleaning” effect on the ‘A’ coil, mount the unit in the supply plenum as close as possible to the ‘A’ coil. (See Figure 1)

WARNING: Never expose eyes or skin to UVC light from any source. Looking directly at the UVC light may cause permanent eye damage or blindness. Never operate the UV-Aire™ Air Purifying System out of the plenum. Avoid touching the glass portion of the lamp with your

hands.

UV-12, UV-18 specifications

Field Controls UV-12 and UV-18 are advanced ultraviolet (UV) air purification systems designed to enhance indoor air quality by effectively targeting and neutralizing airborne pathogens. These models utilize cutting-edge technology to provide a safer and healthier environment in residential and commercial spaces.

One of the primary features of both the UV-12 and UV-18 units is their powerful UV-C light technology. This germicidal UV light works at a wavelength of 254 nanometers, effectively disrupting the DNA and RNA of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and mold spores. By doing so, these systems render the pathogens inactive, significantly reducing their ability to reproduce and cause illness.

The UV-12 is suitable for smaller HVAC systems, making it an ideal choice for compact spaces or homes. It boasts a dual-lamp design that offers enhanced purification capacity without compromising energy efficiency. The UV-18, on the other hand, is designed for larger HVAC systems, delivering increased output for areas with higher air volume and contamination loads. The larger unit accommodates more extensive applications without sacrificing performance.

A significant advantage of the Field Controls UV systems is their low-maintenance design. The replacement UV lamps are designed to last up to 18 months of continuous operation, ensuring consistent performance without frequent interventions. Moreover, the installation process is straightforward, as both models can be easily integrated into existing HVAC systems, allowing for minimal disruption to the user’s daily operations.

Another critical aspect of the UV-12 and UV-18 is their ability to operate silently, providing air purification without noise distractions. This characteristic makes them ideal for use in environments where quiet operation is essential, such as homes, offices, and healthcare facilities.

In addition to their germicidal capabilities, the Field Controls UV systems also help in reducing unpleasant odors. By targeting VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and other airborne contaminants, they contribute to a fresher and more pleasant indoor atmosphere.

Overall, the Field Controls UV-12 and UV-18 air purification systems represent a solid investment for those seeking to improve indoor air quality. Their innovative UV technology, ease of maintenance, and silent operation make these units an excellent choice for maintaining a healthy living or working environment. The combination of efficacy and user-friendly design ensures that users can enjoy peace of mind while effectively combating harmful airborne pathogens.
