3 REMOVING OLD THERMOSTAT

!CAUTION

To prevent electrical shock and/or equipment damage, disconnect electrical power to the system at the main fuse or circuit breaker until installation is complete.

Before removing wires from old thermostat’s switching subbase, label each wire with the terminal designation it was removed from.

1.Remove Old Thermostat: A standard heat/cool thermostat consists of three basic parts:

a.The cover, which may be either a snap-on or hinge type.

b.The base, which is removed by loosening all captive screws.

c.The switching subbase, which is removed by unscrewing the mounting screws that hold it on the wall or adaptor plate.

2.Shut off electricity at the main fuse box until installation is complete. Ensure that electrical power is disconnected.

3.Remove the front cover of the old thermostat. With wires still attached, remove wall plate from the wall. If the old thermostat has a wall mounting plate, remove the thermostat and the wall mounting plate as an assembly.

4.Identify each wire attached to the old thermostat using the labels enclosed with the new thermostat.

5.Disconnect the wires from the old thermostat one at a time. DO

NOT LET WIRES FALL BACK INTO THE WALL.

6.Install new thermostat using the following procedures.

The 700 series is equipped with smart technology that enhances its usability. Many models feature programmable settings that allow users to customize their heating and cooling schedules based on their daily routines. This programmability can lead to significant energy savings, as the thermostat can automatically adjust settings during times when the home is unoccupied or when more efficient temperatures are desired.

Moreover, the White Rodgers 700 series incorporates advanced climate control technologies that optimize system performance. Features like adaptive recovery technology ensure that the desired temperature is reached as efficiently as possible without overshooting, thereby maintaining comfort while minimizing energy waste. This technology helps prolong the lifespan of HVAC systems by reducing wear and tear from constant cycling.

Compatibility is another significant advantage of the White Rodgers 700 series. These thermostats can work with a wide range of heating and cooling systems, including conventional, heat pump, and gas systems. This versatility makes them ideal for homeowners looking to upgrade their thermostat without the need for expensive alterations to their existing HVAC infrastructure.

In terms of security, some models within the series offer lockout features, providing peace of mind for users by preventing unauthorized changes to the temperature settings. This is particularly useful in settings where many individuals have access to the thermostat.

Maintenance reminders and filter change alerts are other essential characteristics of the 700 series, encouraging users to perform regular upkeep, which ultimately contributes to the longevity and efficiency of their HVAC systems.

Overall, the White Rodgers 700 series thermostats exemplify modern temperature control technology, combining user-friendly interfaces, smart features, and compatibility with various HVAC systems to deliver a reliable solution for temperature management.
