Adjust

your

stitch

width

 

and

needle

 

position

 

 

 

 

 

 

the

stitch just

slightly

 

so

that

the zigzag

bite of

 

straight

 

catches

the

fold

of

 

the

fabric.

The

 

 

stitches

should be

formed

on

the single thickness

 

of

fabric,

and

the

zigzag

 

bite

should

catch

 

just

barely

into

the fold of

the

fabric at

 

the left.

 

When

stitching

is

completed,

 

remove

fabric

 

 

 

to

right side.

Press

 

from

machine

and

turn

 

completed

When

hemming

an

A-line

skirt,

place

a

machine

basting

stitch

along

the

raw edge

of

the

hem.

At

an

ironing board,

fold

up

the hem,

matching

the

seams.

Ease

in

the

excess

fabric

 

by

pulling

on

 

 

 

 

then

apply hem

basting

 

.

Press

with

steam,

 

thread

 

 

 

 

1/2

inch

from

taped edge,

tape.

Baste or

pin hem

then continue

into step
