Using your Variable Temperature Kettle

Before using your kettle.

It is recommended that you clean your kettle before using it by filling the kettle with water to the maximum level indicator, boiling the water and discarding.

Using your Variable Temperature Kettle

Important: Do not fill the kettle over the maximum level, as water may spill out of the spout when boiling.

1.To fill the kettle, remove it from the power base and lift the lid by pulling the lid release on top of the kettle upwards. Alternatively, the kettle may be filled through the pouring spout. Do not fill the kettle below the 'min' indication.

2.Fill the kettle with the desired amount of water. Always fill the kettle between the minimum and maximum marks. Too little water will result in the kettle switching off before the water has boiled.

3.Push the lid closed firmly until it locks into position.

4.Place the kettle onto the power base. Plug the power cord into a 230-240 Volt AC power outlet and switch the power on.

5.Press the ‘SET TEMP’ button to toggle between four pre-set temperatures: 80°C, 85°C, 90°C and 100°C (boil). Your selected water temperature will be indicated by an orange LED illuminating directly below the printed temperatures above the ‘SET TEMP’ button.

See Figure 1.

Tip: The Variable Temperature Kettle has four optimum tea temperatures you can select from: 80°C, 85°C, 90°C and 100°C (boil). These are the recommended temperatures for brewing green, white, oolong, herbal and black teas. Refer to the ‘Tea Brewing Styles and Tips’ table on page 6 for the ideal tea temperature for your tea.

6.To maintain the selected water temperature once the heating cycle has finished, simply select the ‘KEEP WARM’ button at the start of the boiling cycle. This will maintain the temperature selected for up to 20 minutes. The ‘KEEP WARM’ button at the start of the boiling cycle will remain illuminated to indicate that it has been selected.

Note: The ‘KEEP WARM’ button can be pressed when selecting your desired water temperature or after the power button has been pressed (during the boiling cycle). The 'KEEP WARM' button cannot be selected after the boiling cycle has finished. The ‘KEEP WARM’ button will illuminate to indicate that it has been selected.

Note: If the ‘KEEP WARM’ button is selected when the 100°C (boil) temperature has been selected, the kettle will boil to 100°C, drop to 90°C and maintain at 90°C for up to 20 minutes.
