3.APPLICATIONS

+Running EUROPOWER amplifiers in conjunction with 8-Ohm speakers with a power rating of at least 2 x 260 Watts (EP1500) and 2 x 450 Watts (EP2500) is recommended to assure optimal operation.

3.1Differences between 2-channel, parallel and mono-bridged operating modes

2-channel mode is the most common operating mode of amplifiers. Both channels operate fully independently from one another. There is always a separate input signal as well as a separate output signal.

Examples:

s2-channel (stereo) playback

sTwo independent mono signals, e.g. instrument signal and monitor mix

sBi-amp operation, whereby bass frequencies are run on channel 1, and high frequencies on channel 2 (see chapter 3.2, “Bi-amping”).

Fig. 3.2: DIP switch positions for 2-channel operation

Parallel mode is identical to 2-channel mode, except for the inputs of both channels are internally connected in parallel. One input signal routes parallel both channels, while their filters etc. are independently controlled.

Examples:

sA mono signal is fed into both channels, whereby amplifi- cation of each channel is controlled separately.

sParallel mode (as described above) with connection of an additional amp via the remaining free input connector. The input signal is present there, and may be connected to further equipment.

+When connecting a balanced input signal, please make sure to exclusively use balanced cables for passing the signal further on. Otherwise, a single unbalanced cable can turn the entire signal unbalanced.

EP2500, EUROPOWEREP1500 specifications

The Behringer EUROPOWER EP1500 and EP2500 are professional-grade power amplifiers designed to deliver exceptional sound quality and robust performance for various audio applications. These amplifiers are ideal for live sound, installations, and recording studio setups, catering to audiophiles and professionals alike.

One of the standout features of the EUROPOWER series is its high output power. The EP1500 delivers a remarkable 2 x 750 watts at 4 ohms, while the EP2500 boasts an impressive 2 x 1200 watts at the same impedance. This ability to produce significant power ensures that users can drive their speakers effectively and maintain clarity even at louder volumes.

Both models feature an efficient cooling system, which includes a built-in fan that operates quietly, ensuring that the amplifiers remain cool during extended use without distracting from the performance. This thermal efficiency is critical in maintaining reliability, especially in demanding environments.

The build quality of the EUROPOWER amplifiers is rugged, featuring a durable metal chassis designed to withstand the rigors of touring and frequent transportation. Additionally, they are equipped with a user-friendly front panel that includes gain controls, LED indicators for signal and clip status, and a power switch for easy operation.

In terms of connectivity, the EP1500 and EP2500 provide various input and output options. They feature XLR and TRS inputs for greater flexibility in connecting to mixing consoles or other audio sources. The outputs include Speakon and binding posts, allowing for compatibility with a wide array of speaker systems.

These amplifiers also incorporate advanced technologies such as a low-noise input stage, which ensures a clean signal path and minimizes distortion. Furthermore, built-in limiters protect the speakers from damage by preventing clipping during high output levels, a crucial feature for maintaining audio fidelity and system integrity.

Another important characteristic of the EUROPOWER series is its reliability. They are designed to handle both low and high frequencies efficiently, ensuring that the sound remains balanced across the entire spectrum. This is particularly beneficial in live sound situations where clarity and punch are essential.

In summary, the Behringer EUROPOWER EP1500 and EP2500 are formidable power amplifiers equipped with high output capabilities, efficient cooling systems, and rugged durability. Their diverse connectivity options and advanced technologies make them suitable for a wide range of audio applications, providing professionals with the reliability and performance needed to achieve outstanding sound reinforcement. Whether for concerts, festivals, or installation in venues, the EUROPOWER series stands out as a dependable choice for audio professionals.
